Young people struggling to find adult identities in an unfriendly environment spend Saturday night driving around the city.
Queen Street follows three friends as they drive up and down Auckland's Queen Street in a 1946 Ford pickup. On the cusp of adulthood, the dynamic of their friendship is changing and they have pinned a lot on this night on the town. So much that the reality can't possibly live up to their inflated expectations. Hoons, overly officious cops and crooked tow truck drivers weave through the night.
This film offers a unique picture of Auckland's downtown in 1981, as well as an insight into the street culture of the era.
