Meet Peter. Peter has dedicated fifty years of his life documenting over two hundred lava caves underneath an urban city in New Zealand.
This character-driven documentary is a 'day in the life of' Peter as he photographs some of the 200+ lava caves that can be found under the suburban streets of Auckland. These caves can be found in the most unsuspecting of places. Under manholes, beneath houses, or under the local school grounds.
As Peter drags himself through these dark, damp and enclosed spaces beneath our feet, he talks about the unique history these caves offer. But he realises that these 30,000 year-old caves will be a casualty of the inevitable urban growth.
