The King Boys
A boy wrestles to resurrect his family's buried dream. Clinging to the memory of his father who never returned from the war, a boy suffers the moods of his shell shocked uncle. But when he uncovers a buried family legacy, the boy takes over his father's mantel in an effort to make his family happy once more.
Director’s Notes - Christopher Clark
“My grandfathers served in New Zealand’s armed forces for the duration of World War Two. Returning to their families as changed men, their selfless duty and subsequent lives as ‘ordinary Kiwis’ is the inspiration behind The King Boys and the associated feature film project in development.
The King Boys creates a microcosm of New Zealand’s Post War era in its examination of loss, isolation, mental / physical trauma, heroism and the resurrection of buried dreams. To motivate its storytelling, The King Boys relies on the spiritual ideals of faith, devotion, perseverance and destiny.”
