At some point in our lives we are all faced with grief. With death. With the loss of our corner stones. It’s hard enough as an adult to lose a loved one but for a child it can turn the world upside down. THE CALF is an exploration of a child’s response to the hardest thing they could ever face - the death of a parent.

We want the audience to feel the confusing vulnerability of the situation. To run with Kyle as he flees from the thing he cannot face. To join him and his friends as they navigate the road into the unknown while grappling with the powerful shifting allegiances of childhood group dynamics. To watch Kyle’s best friend slip away from him. By seeing the world through these young eyes, we discover the complexity of friendship, the weight of responsibility and the mythic power of the natural world.

THE CALF is for those who have lost, those that were ever young and confused about things they couldn’t control, those with a big empathic heart that beats for the vulnerable.
