We are changing the look and name of our application portal.  The portal will be known as Tomo mai, a name which signals an invitation, and entrance point, to come in and access support for filmmakers. This is the first phase of a number of  improvements we will be making for users in the near future.

Here are the key things you need to know:

Key changes for applicants

  • Existing portal users will be sent a link inviting them to sign up to Tomo mai.  The good news is that we have tweaked the design of our forms and you will only need to enter certain details in once, not with every application, as has been the case in the past.  Links will be sent out in mid-August.
  • Existing portal users are encouraged to download historical applications and supporting files prior to the 14th August. If you don’t, don’t worry they won’t be lost, but now is the time to move them into your drive or the cloud so you have easy access.
  • Assessors no longer need two logins. They will be able to switch between acting as an applicant and acting as an assessor.
  • The most noticeable change will be the user interface (the look and feel of the portal).

What to know if you have a current application:

  • Funds that are ‘always open’ will close on the 14 August 2023 and will re-open in Tomo mai on the 4th September 2023.
  • Please make sure unsubmitted applications are submitted before 14 August so they can be migrated.

The application rounds that will be temporarily closing are:

  • Short Film International Festival Fund - Post-production Grant
  • Producer International Travel Fund
  • Advanced Development Fund
  • Short Film International Festival Fund - Travel Grant
  • Industry Development Funding
  • Talent Development Funding
  • Feature Film Finishing Grant
  • International Co-development Fund

All other funds will run as per their published dates.

These changes aim to improve the application process for users and the impact for users should be easy and stress free.  We are here to help if you have any questions or need help with any part of the process.  Applicants mid-process or wanting to make applications during the migration will be assisted off-portal by NZFC staff during the migration.

Please reach out to us at  funding@nzfilm.co.nz at any point in the process.
