Building on the global success of the BAFTA‑nominated series, Kiri and Lou Go Raaa! marks a major milestone for NZ animation, the first feature-length stop-motion film made in New Zealand.
Handmade in Ōtautahi Christchurch, the film expands the much-loved world of Kiri and Lou into a cinematic adventure designed for shared viewing on the big screen.
Every element of Kiri and Lou Go Raaa! is physically made; sculpted clay characters animated frame by frame within richly textured, paper-built environments.
This handcrafted approach gives the film its distinctive softness and tactility, creating a world that feels both playful and deeply considered. It’s a style that invites audiences in, encouraging curiosity, calm and emotional connection.
The film is written and directed by Harry Sinclair, whose work brings a distinctive rhythm and emotional intelligence to storytelling for young audiences.
It features the voices of Jemaine Clement and Olivia Tennet, whose performances anchor the film’s humour and heart, alongside original songs by Don McGlashan.
Together with animation director Antony Elworthy and producer Fiona Copland, the team has grown Kiri and Lou from a small, locally made series into a globally recognised New Zealand success story
