Patsy Reddy, NZFC Chair, is delighted to announce the appointment of Dave Gibson as the next Chief Executive of the Film Commission.  He replaces Graeme Mason who recently left the Commission to become CEO of Screen Australia.

“Dave Gibson is one of New Zealand’s most experienced film and television producers and we are delighted to have secured his services for this important leadership role” said Ms Reddy.

He has a depth and breadth of knowledge and experience of the New Zealand industry across both film and television which we see as invaluable for the Film Commission, particularly as we seek to encourage the development of sustainable businesses with stronger international reach.” Ms Reddy said.

Dave Gibson is the founder of the Wellington production company The Gibson Group, a company with a 35 year history of working in film, television and visitor attractions in New Zealand and internationally. He is in the process of selling his shares in the company to a group of senior staff.  The sale will be completed by the time he commences his new role.

In 2005 he was the SPADA OnFilm industry champion and in 2012 was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the film and television industry.  He served as a board member of the Film Commission during the mid-1990s.

Mr Gibson will take up his new role in January.  His contract will be for five years.
