Entries are still being accepted from New Zealand films for the 2015 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC).

This year the festival features a spotlight on New Zealand women documentary filmmakers and is also inviting projects for their pitching competition.

Projects will be selected for the pitching session and invited to present to a group of commissioning editors from major international broadcasters and media groups.  Production teams will be given an opportunity to introduce their project, followed by Q & A.  A trailer of up to three minutes is recommended as part of the presentation.

The top ten pitchers will be awarded for being the projects with the most market potential.  There is also an opportunity for production teams to take part in International Producers’ Day and one-on-one meetings with festival delegates.

GZDOC is China’s only state-level documentary film festival.  Founded in 2003 and hosted by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT), the festival comprises six sections: Competition, Screening, Forum, Training, DocuMart and Networking. GZDOC has become one of the most important platforms for international documentary filmmaking.

Having begun its life as an academic seminar, and later becoming a documentary conference, the Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC) in China has established itself as one of the most important platforms for Asian documentaries, and has been a significant boost for the development of China’s documentary industry.

The Golden Kapok Award recognizes an outstanding documentary for both its artistic merit and its subject matter.  The award is decided by a jury of international documentarians. It has established itself as the most prestigious award for documentary filmmakers in China.

DocuMart of GZDOC has developed over the last ten years to become the most influential documentary film market in Asia, showcasing selected projects to audiences and potential funders.

To submit, please register at www.gzdoc.cn. Film submissions close on 25 August, and pitching submissions on 31 August.

Participants can benefit from the opportunity to come into contact with over 200 influential institutions and more than 600 documentarians from within the Chinese and international documentary industry.
