New Zealand feature documentary Antarctica: A Year On Ice by Anthony Powell is gaining acclaim at festivals across North America.

So far the film has won a string of awards, including:

- Best Documentary, Calgary International Film Festival, Canada
- Best Documentary, Best Cinematography, Indie Fest USA, California

Antarctica: A Year On Ice has been more than 10 years in the making, with Anthony Powell having to invent many of his own camera systems to work in the extreme cold of the Antarctic winter.  The documentary captures for the first time the entire year-round experience, including months of darkness and mind-numbing cold in the harshest place on the planet.

Anthony Powell's footage has appeared in numerous TV shows and films around the world.  Most recently he was featured in the Emmy Award-winning BBC series Frozen Planet.
