Champion exceptional story tellers to create enduring taonga for Aotearoa

Te Rautaki Māori 2018-2021 celebrates the unique and distinctive culture of Aotearoa that differentiates our national cinema and champions Māori film and filmmakers in partnership with the Māori film industry to Aotearoa and the world. 

The work to date of the Rautaki Māori has supported a range of funding initiatives that have supported these aspirations.

Projects in Te Reo Maori 

The NZFC acknowledges the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the protection of te reo Māori as an official language of New Zealand with this endeavour to uphold Maihi Karauna, the Māori Language Act 2016 and support the revitalisation of te reo Māori. The NZFC offers funding support to projects in te reo Māori across both development and production intiatives.
