Innovation funding opportunities:
We’re seeking Feature Film projects (particularly with budgets of $1m and under) that forge new pathways and push boundaries. This could mean experimenting with film technologies and methodologies, creating distinctive audience experiences, or elevating filmmaker talent. In 2026, we'll also be providing opportunities to hothouse further innovative ideas. If you have a new way of working or a vision that challenges convention, it’s time to share it – contact development@nzfilm.co.nz
Increased flexibility for applications up to $1m:
We’re streamlining the process for Feature Film production and post-production funding. Grants of up to $500k and equity of up to $1m will now be considered by a Staff Investment Committee, with final decisions made by the CEO, enabling faster and more responsive outcomes. Revised guidelines will be available in December. To learn more and discuss your project, email development@nzfilm.co.nz to kōrero with our expert team.
Time critical projects:
Production funding decisions for projects with complete finance and urgent timelines can be considered at any time. To get started, email production@nzfilm.co.nz to book a pre-application hui.
