From 28 April 2026, applications for the New Zealand Screen Production Rebate (NZSPR) for New Zealand productions and official co‑production certification will move to online submission via the NZFC’s application portal, Tomo mai. This shift is designed to streamline the application process and support more efficient assessment and processing.

From this date, applications for the following must be submitted through Tomo mai:

  • New Zealand Screen Production Rebate (NZSPR) for New Zealand productions – including registration, provisional, interim and final certificates.
  • Certification – including official co‑production certification (provisional and final) and certification of a New Zealand film for tax purposes.

To apply, you’ll need to register for a Tomo mai account, or log in to an existing account, and submit your application through the portal. Applications for the International Rebate will move to the online portal at a later date; in the meantime, please continue to use the forms available on the NZFC website.

To support this change, we’ve updated our FAQs for both the Rebate and co‑production certification, which are a useful first reference when preparing an application. If you have project‑specific questions, please contact the Co‑Production and Incentives team at nzspr@nzfilm.co.nz
