Application info

We provide grants to support international travel that builds opportunities for New Zealand filmmakers and feature film projects.

  • Grants of up to NZ$6,500 + GST per trip

  • For attendance at major international film festivals and markets

  • Travel must have a clear business case and tangible outcomes

Notes: The NZFC no longer supports filmmaker travel to Australia. Series drama and non-feature events are not eligible

Applicants must be New Zealand directors or producers who:

  • Have a completed feature film premiering at an international festival or market;
    OR

  • Have a short film in competition at Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Venice, Hawai'i, or ImagineNative;
    AND

  • Have at least one feature film in advanced development

  • Can demonstrate a clear set of travel objectives and outcomes

  • Have a detailed trip plan, including meetings with relevant industry contacts

Due to limited funding, the NZFC will generally not support:

  • Two or more producers attending the same festival or market for the same project

  • Multiple producers from the same company travelling to the same event

Note: Maximum of two grants per applicant per financial year, unless otherwise approved.
The NZFC financial year runs from 1 July to 30 June.
