Jonah Lomu announced himself as a Rugby Union sensation when he debuted for New Zealand’s All Blacks at just 19 years old – becoming their youngest ever player – and cemented his celebrity status at the 1995 World Cup. Despite his sporting success, his personal life wasn’t easy, not least after he was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome kidney disease.

Vea Mafile’o and Gavin FitzGerald explore Lomu’s life from his Tongan roots to his international fame, using a wealth of archive footage and insightful in-depth interviews with friends and family, including his mum Hepi and brother John.
