East of Eden is set to premiere on Netflix in 2026

Based on John Steinbeck’s landmark novel, East of Eden is a sweeping seven‑episode limited series that explores family, desire, and moral choice across generations. The story follows the intertwined destinies of the Trask and Hamilton families, viewed through the lens of Cathy Ames — a complex, magnetic anti‑hero brought to life by Florence Pugh.

Written and executive produced by Zoe Kazan, and starring an ensemble cast including Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton and Ciarán Hinds, the series was filmed extensively across New Zealand. Aotearoa’s diverse landscapes and period‑ready locations enabled the production to recreate early‑20th‑century America at scale, supporting an ambitious, emotionally rich adaptation for global audiences.
