New Zealand International Feature Film Submission Process

99th Academy Awards® (2027 Ceremony)

The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) coordinates New Zealand's process for selecting and submitting a film for consideration in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' International Feature Film category.

This page outlines the process used to assess films for consideration as New Zealand's official submission.

Please note that selection by New Zealand does not guarantee eligibility, nomination, shortlist status, or any subsequent recognition by the Academy. Final eligibility and category decisions are determined solely by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Academy Rules

All applicants should carefully review the Academy's official rules and guidance materials before submitting a film for consideration.

Official Academy Resources

The Academy's published rules remain the source of truth, and applicants are responsible for ensuring their film meets all applicable requirements.

More Information

Any individual with a professional relationship to a film under consideration will not participate in the assessment of that film.

In accordance with Academy requirements, the names of Selection Committee members are not publicly disclosed.
