The Extended Screen Production Recovery Fund will support selected NZFC funded and NZSPG-New Zealand productions impacted by a change in NZ COVID-19 alert level status up until 30 June 2022.
What we fund
Applications will be considered for New Zealand based screen productions that want funding to cover New Zealand-based losses during pre-production and the shoot explicitly attributable to New Zealand COVID-19 alert level changes that occur between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022.
As the industry has adjusted to filming within the revised protocols and practices associated with mounting a production in a COVID-19 environment, many costs that were previously covered by the Screen Production Recovery Fund prior to 1 July 2021 are now considered “business as usual” and are excluded, for example funding a Level 1 COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan or gaining border clearances.
Funding offered to a production will be capped at 4.2% of the original production budget. The 4.2% cap applies every time Covid-19 alert levels move above from Level 1. Short films are excluded from the 4.2% funding cap; funding offered to short films will be capped at $10,000 per project.
Who can apply
To be eligible to apply for funding, productions must:
a) be a New Zealand based screen production;
b) have incurred additional costs due to a change in COVID-19 alert level between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022;
c) not have been abandoned and must, in the NZFC’s opinion, have a reasonable likelihood of being completed;
d) fall within one of the following categories prior to the relevant alert level change:
i) be receiving funding from the NZFC. This may be evidenced by the production having a signed funding agreement with the NZFC or having received a conditional offer for funding from the NZFC; and/or
ii) have registered on the NZSPG-New Zealand registration form; and/or
iii) have applied for a provisional certificate for NZSPG-New Zealand; or
iv) have been issued a provisional certificate for NZSPG–New Zealand.
