The annual Cannes Cinéfondation Résidence du Festival  welcomes 12 young filmmakers from around the world who are working on their first or second feature film.

A jury selects six filmmakers for each of the two four-and-a-half-month sessions per year. Successful applicants for this prestigious programme are able to fully focus on their writing, and are given the opportunity to connect with other young directors and industry professionals.

What do successful applicants receive?

  • A grant of €800 per month
  • Free access to a large number of Paris cinemas
  • French lessons (optional)
  • The possibility of attending festivals during their stay

Applicants must apply directly to the Cannes Résidence and may approach the Film Commission for financial assistance once an acceptance letter has been received. The candidates are selected on the strength of the films they submit in support of their application.
