Co-Production Treaties

The NZFC is authorised by the New Zealand Government as the 'competent' authority to deal with film and television co-production issues.

For both financial and creative reasons, many film and television projects worldwide are developed as international co-productions. If a co-production is appropriately structured, it will be eligible for certification as a 'New Zealand film'. Furthermore, it may be able to attract production financing from the NZFC.

As at September 2011, New Zealand was a party to co-production agreements with Australia, Canada, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Korea, China, India and South Africa.
