The Talent Content Fund (Short Docs) is designed to help develop future feature documentary makers through the production of short docs. This is a contestable fund aimed at organisations who have a track record of developing documentary filmmaking talent.

Who can apply:
Organisations can apply for a grant to contribute towards a significant talent development initiative or programme that is linked to the production of short documentaries. The NZFC cannot be the only funding provider. The organisation must be able to prove additional funding from other sources in order to be eligible for this funding. Please note, organisations that have received Guild Core Funding Support, Tangata Whenua/ Diversity Funding Support or Strategic Training Support are not eligible to apply for this funding. Strategic Training Support applications are accepted annually in April.

The TALENT CONTENT FUND (Short Docs) is a contestable fund. The NZFC invites applications from organisations to apply with proposals for talent development initiatives linked to Short documentary production. Proposals should include:
- A short history of the organisation to establish track record;
- A schedule of activity and key events;
- The target outcomes for the talent;
- A budget including confirmation of other investment/income;
- A list of partnerships if appropriate with written confirmation.
Applications for TALENT CONTENT FUND (Short Docs) will be decided by the Head of Talent Development and CEO. There will be one round per year.
Please be aware that:
If you are successful, you will have reporting responsibilities linked to KPI’s and milestones.
We cannot fund retrospectively.
Our investment is discretionary and our decisions are final. The criteria we apply may change from time to time but our decisions will be consistent with the New Zealand Film Commission Act 1978.
