How to qualify as an NZ film
New Zealand short film Abiogenesis (written, directed and produced by Richard Mans) will screen as an "honourable mention" as part of the Oscar Nominated Short Films 2013 presentation.
While not nominated, Abiogenesis is to screen in theatres through the US, Canada and Europe in the feature-length Oscar presentation, and will have a limited theatrical release in other countries. The New Zealand short will also debut in more than 50 countries with an iTunes release on February 19th, and will available on Video On Demand in the US and Europe.
The presentation features five Oscar-nominated short films and three "bonus/honourable mentions", which qualify to run for next year's Academy Awards.
The 86th Academy Awards take place on 2nd March, 2014.
