Experienced film and entertainment lawyer John McCay has been appointed to the New Zealand Film Commission Board, Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Hon Maggie Barry announced today.

“John McCay brings a breadth of experience in corporate and commercial law to the Commission including more than 20 years’ advising bodies in the public sector,” Maggie Barry said.

“Coupled with this, Mr McCay has significant expertise in the infrastructure, technology, sports, film and entertainment industries. 

“Importantly Mr McCay has advised the New Zealand Film Commission, Film New Zealand, and New Zealand On Air and has been involved in a range of New Zealand feature films, including Whale Rider and The World’s Fastest Indian

“Mr McCay has been Chair of Film NZ and a trustee of the NZ international Festival of the Arts, the Wellington Arts Foundation, and Limbs4all Trust,” Maggie Barry said

A Wellingtonian and partner with Minter Ellison Rudd Watts, Mr McCay takes up his appointment on 1 October 2015 for a term ending on 30 Sept 2018.
