Our congratulations go to John Gilbert for winning the 2017 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award for Best Editing. The award was earned for his work on Hacksaw Ridge, the Mel Gibson directed World War II epic starring Andrew Garfield.

This is the first time Gilbert has won a BAFTA after having been nominated previously for his work on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Gilbert was not present in London to accept the award due to work commitments in Los Angeles.

Weta Digital was also recognised at the BAFTAS, with a Best Special Visual Effects gong for its work on Disney’s The Jungle Book.
