Taika Waititi

Taika Waititi is an award-winning director, writer, actor and artist from New Zealand. As a film-maker, Taika wrote, directed and acted in Boy, New Zealand’s highest-grossing film of all time. In 2005, he received an Academy Award® nomination for his short film Two Cars, One Night and his short film Tama Tu picked up festival prizes worldwide, including making the Academy Award® shortlist for 2006. Taika’s first feature film Eagle vs. Shark was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, with the script chosen for workshopping at the prestigious Sundance Institute Directors Lab. Taika’s most recent film, What We Do In The Shadows, which he co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in with Jemaine Clement, has received rave international reviews, including being named “The best comedy of the year” by the Guardian, and was New Zealand’s highest grossing film of 2014. It is enjoying a solid release across various countries around the world and is currently rated at 96% on rottentomatoes.com.
