…this is an impressive piece of work. Sophie Henderson who wrote the script and plays Tania has created fresh, appealing characters with affection and compassion. The acting is unforced, yet so committed and mesmerizing that our attention never wavers. Henderson is an astonishing talent; expect to see more of her in the future.

The New Zealand Listener about Fantail

 

Sophie works as a writer and actor in the film, television and theatre industries. Her first screenplay, Fantail was nominated for 8 NZ Film Awards, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Actress and was invited to have its International premiere at Rotterdam Film Festival.  Fantail  had a nationwide cinema release and traveled to MIFF where it picked up a People’s Choice award. Sophie was a finalist with  Fantail  in the 2014 SWANZ awards for Best Feature Film Script. Her next film, Manhunt is currently in development. Sophie can be seen in a number of local film and television productions including, Auckland Daze, Outrageous Fortune, Underbelly, The Most Fun you Can Have Dying, Piece of My Heart, The Jacqui Brown Diaries, and Hauraki. Sophie has worked extensively for Silo Theatre as an actor and is developing the play of Manhunt with the company as part of a wider transmedia project.
