Leanne Pooley is one of New Zealand’s most accomplished documentary filmmakers having directed over 20 films. She has worked for many of the world's major broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery, National Geographic and PBS. Pooley’s documentaries have screened in more than 100 countries and include topics ranging from rugby to the Pope. Her feature films have won over 30 international awards including the People's Choice Award for Documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival. In 2011 Leanne’s work was recognised by the New Zealand Arts Foundation and she was made a New Zealand Arts Laureate.
Founded in 1997 by New Zealand Arts Laureate Leanne Pooley, Spacific Films is an independent production company based in Auckland, New Zealand. Having won numerous accolades and awards Spacific Films has established a reputation for producing high quality, compelling documentaries for the New Zealand and international market place. Leanne Pooley is best known for the acclaimed films TOPP TWINS – UNTOUCHABLE GIRLS and BEYOND THE EDGE 3D.
