How to qualify as an NZ film
The New Zealand film industry is vibrant and world-renowned. It is famous for its filmmakers, post production and digital effects, set, costume and prop design, locations and can-do attitude.
We are the authority responsible for approving film and television projects as official co-productions under the various treaties the New Zealand Government has entered into over recent years. We are also responsible for certifying New Zealand films for tax purposes and administering the Government's New Zealand Screen Production Grant (NZSPG) and its predecessors the Large Budget Screen Production Grant and the Screen Production Incentive Fund.
In August 2015, Film New Zealand merged with the New Zealand Film Commission. Our International Screen Attractions team can help with detailed information on making your production in New Zealand. Contact our enquiries manager or find out more on the Screen Attractions website.
