How to qualify as an NZ film
He's late home - again. She's lonely - she's fed up - she's got ambitions. She gets help from some big stars - Dionne Warwick, the Virgin Mary, a living Barbie Doll and a Dominatrix. But what will they lead her to do? There's more cooking than just dinner.
Based on a short story by Frances Cherry, One Man's Meat stars Donogh Rees as a wife teetering on teh brink of insanity. Jo struggles with dinner, the raw meat in her kitchen too much for her to deal with. She falls into a dream-state and imagines herself fronting a girl-group with Barbie, The Virgin Mary and a dominatrix as her back-up singers.
We see her reality in flashbacks, watching her husband come home drunk and Jo attending a dinner party solo where she has to explain his absence.
