A young servant girl from England seeks a new life in 19th Century New Zealand.
Lizzie (Sarah Peirse) is a young English servant girl, who finds herself on a rundown sheep farm in Canterbury.
A Woman of Good Character is based on the pioneer novel by English author Elizabeth Gowans. The film is director David Blyth's second feature, following his debut Angel Mine.
The film was adapted to tele-movie length in 1983, with the title It's Lizzie to Those Close.
