How to qualify as an NZ film
We offer financial assistance to domestic distributors of independent New Zealand feature films to help maximise the New Zealand domestic theatrical audience.
Who can apply: Ideally, applicants will be established distributors, but in exceptional circumstances we will consider applications for self-distribution which are strategic and relevant to the film’s audience.
We provide four types of grant to help with the distribution of New Zealand films in New Zealand. Three of these are for films suitable for a general theatrical release in at least five cinemas across two major cities. The exception is the Innovation Grant which allows for a more innovative and limited theatrical release. Please read the guidelines for more detailed information.
Applications are assessed by our Marketing team within six weeks. You'll be contacted once decisions are made.
Please read the Film Distribution Grant Guidelines below. If you have any questions please email [email protected]
