How to qualify as an NZ film
We are here to help New Zealand films find their way to New Zealand cinema audiences.
We provide various forms of distribution support including facilitating contact with local distributors, advising on release strategies and providing a subsidy for theatrical releases.
We encourage our filmmakers to develop a 'route to market' strategy for their projects at the conception stage. In certain circumstances this may include non-conventional means of distribution of New Zealand film product such as self-distribution.
This section provides information on local distribution options for New Zealand films and details of financial support for New Zealand releases. In future it will expand to include more detail on local cinemas and box office statistics.
