Career Development

We invest in a diverse range of activities to support the professional development of New Zealand producers, directors, writers and practitioners. 

We do this by:

• Providing training grants to assist film practicioners to further develop their careers, through our Professional Development Awards and the Annual Development Awards.
• Providing support and funding for professional film organisations and guilds to offer specific initiatives that develop feature filmmakers.
• Regularly running workshops and events aimed at sharing expertise, knowledge and resources.

We also look for opportunities to help producers and directors gain experience through formal internships on films we are funding. We see these partnerships as beneficial to both the production and the trainee producer or director and we provide financial support to approved internships.
