Smashing the Window: A new era of film distribution


This is a scoping the landscape document. 

In the introductory section there is an overview of the new media marketplace including market trends, age and gender biases, consumer confusion in the marketplace, overabundance of new media opportunities, the impact of the current global economic situation, increased consumer demand for contract of viewing times and platforms for entertainment media, social networking and new media revenue.


On Wednesday, 1st October 2008 Timothy O’Brien from the Commission moderated a discussion.between Jason Janego Head of Legal and Business for Magnolia Pictures in New York.  Magnolia is one of the USA’s leading independent film distributors; Brian Chirls a DIY film distribution and social networking guru and internet whiz also based in New York; and London internet PR and E-marketing expert Andy Freedman, who orchestrated the hugely successful UK viral campaign for BLACK SHEEP.
