About the Film

Tracker, a tense psychological story of a manhunt, accentuated by the visual style and theamtic scope of a classic Hollywood Western, plays out across the magnificent landscapes of New Zealand.  As the fugitive Kereama leads the tracker Arjan from ocean beach to mountain peak by way of river, waterfall, lake, alpine grassland and rocky outcrop, they challenge each other's physical, mental and spiritual endurance.  As first one. then the other, gains dominance in this deadly game of cat and mouse, they discover they have more in common than a mutual enemy.

As befits the classic Western style, they are pursued by a posse - a group of soldiers on horseback, led by Major Carlyle (Gareth Reeves) and guided by an eccentric Scottish bushman, Bryce (Andy Anderson). Against this ever-present threat, the tracker Arjan and the fugitive Kereama must each come to terms with the journeys that have brought them to this situation.
