Consumerism and materialism are two of the most major forces which govern lives in middle class suburbia.
The film's plot surrounds a young couple who are desperately trying to emulate the type of people they see in media advertisements. They have a nice home, good jobs and own all the material possessions they need. However, despite all this the young couple are still not happy.
