Feature Film Finishing Grant

The Feature Film Finishing Grant was previously called the Post Production Fund.

The maximum level of grant is $25,000 (plus GST) and the maximum total grants payable in any NZFC financial year (1 July to 30 June) is typically $150,000 (plus GST).  If you’re applying in the second half of our financial year (January to June), please check with our Development Coordinator (development@nzfilm.co.nz) to ensure funds are still available.

In order to apply for a Feature Film Finishing Grant all of the following criteria for the film must be met:

  • The film has significant New Zealand content as defined by section 18 of the New Zealand Film Commission Act 1978 (see the Production and Post-Production Funding Guidelines for more detail)
  • The film sustains theatrical feature duration, typically defined as 80 minutes or longer
  • The film is a drama or documentary requiring either a 35mm or digital finish
  • The film has a credible theatrical distribution plan for New Zealand and/or strong potential for overseas distribution.

You may apply for funds for all costs (as relevant) associated with finishing the film so that it’s able to be distributed.  If your film requires substantial post-production work such as further shooting, editing, sound editing, visual effects, music composition etc please consult our Production and Post-Production Funding Guidelines.

Please read the Finishing Grant Guidelines below for more detail.
